Preparing for a colonoscopy
What is a colonoscopy? - The purpose of the test is to diagnose/treat intestinal diseases such as: infections, polyps, bleeding or tumors.
The test is performed using a colonoscope - a thin, flexible tube with a video camera at the end, which is inserted into the colon through the rectum.
Using the colonoscope, the doctor views an image of the interior of the colon on a monitor for the purpose of diagnosing/treating various findings.
Sometimes, during the examination, a biopsy or polyp removal is performed according to medical necessity.
